The chairman of Emohua local government area, Dr Chidi Lloyd has reaffirmed his faith in God as he clocked fifty years old on the 1st day of January 2022.
The council chairman said his life is a manifestation of the grace and infinite mercy of God, describing the love of God upon his family amidst his imperfections as unmerited favour which he and his family will never take for granted.
Dr. Lloyd stated this at his 50th birthday anniversary thanksgiving service held at St Mary’s catholic church Akpabu, Emohua LGA, Rivers State on Sunday.
He said he has never had any reason to be afraid of anything in life, no matter the situation he finds himself because of his faith in God, stressing that God has always proven himself at all times, providing answers to all his supplications even in the most difficult situations of his life.
Reaffirming his faith in God, Dr Lloyd promised to always contribute to the work of God and humanity in appreciation for his faithfulness upon his life and that of members of his family.
Recounting his political adventure and how God miraculously brought him to limelight against all odds, Dr Lloyd said he only aspired to become a councillor but God lifted him to the state house of assembly.
“My breakthrough in politics was when i aspired to contest councillorship election but was screened out before the election, little did i know that God had a higher responsibility for me; I was denied the opportunity to represent my my people; Omudioga/Akpabu/Itu (ward 10) in the local government legislative council but was thereafter elected to represent Emohua constituency in the state assembly instead, and that was my breakthrough in politics. And since then, God has remained faithful to me and my family, and we will forever be grateful to Him”. He said.
Speaking on his emergence as the chairman of Emohua local government area few months after his return to the PDP, Dr Lloyd said the decision of the leadership of the PDP in Emohua LGA to have him fly the flag of the party in the chairmanship election came to him as a surprise because he never bargained for it when he decided to return to the party. He said he had to later accept the decision of the leaders to justify the sincerity of his return to the party.
The council chairman thanked the leadership of PDP in the LGA for finding him worthy to oversee the LGA in the midst of other very qualified members of the party, promising never to take the privilege for granted.
He further expressed gratitude to the governor of Rivers State, HE Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for accepting him back to the PDP after years of political disagreement, describing the governor as an exceptional leader who has redefined leadership and politics in Nigeria.
The thanksgiving service which was followed by a gala (reception) at the country home of the celebrant in Akpabu community, attracted dignitaries from all walks of life, friends and associates of Dr Chidi Lloyd and family, including the chief of staff Rivers State government house, Chief Engr Chukwuemeka Woke and his wife; Mrs Grace Emeka Woke, Elder statesman, Ohna Sergeant Awuse and his wife; Dr Victoria Sergeant Awuse, Member representing Emohua constituency in the state assembly, Hon Sam Ogeh, former chief of staff Rivers State government house, Chief Emeh Glory Emeh, Honourable commissioner Rivers State ministry of housing, Elder Chinedu Tasie Nwobueze, a delegation of members of the association of local government of Nigeria (ALGON) led by the chairman of Obio-Akpor LGA, Barr George Ariolu, chairman of PDP caucus committee in Emohua LGA, Eze Paul Wonodi, top government functionaries, political leaders and captains of industries from within and outside Emohua local government area, who in their separate remarks poured encomiums on Dr Chidi Lloyd for his interesting political journey and sterling performance in office as the chairman of Emohua LGA, and prayed God for His continues protection and provision upon the celebrant and his family.
The chairman of the 50th birthday anniversary gala, Chief Emeh Glory Emeh in his remarks described Dr Lloyd as the new face of Emohua local government area, stressing that the council chairman has within a very short time changed the narrative about Emohua local government area, setting a new standard in local government area administration in Nigeria with the slim resources available to the council.
Barr Glory Emeh reiterated the unwavering support of the leadership of the PDP in Emohua LGA to the administration of Dr Chidi Lloyd, emphasizing that the council chairman’s achievements within few months wouldn’t have been possible without the support of leadership of PDP in the LGA.
The well attended birthday reception also featured cultural dances and traditional wrestling exhibition.
